SAN FRANCISCO – September 3, 2020 – Clint Reilly Communications today announced the acquisition of Gentry Magazine, a cornerstone piece of the San Francisco Peninsula media landscape for 26 years. The purchase was finalized on September 1. The price was not disclosed.

The addition of Gentry marks an expansion of the regional media company launched with Janet and Clint Reilly’s purchase of the Nob Hill Gazette in late 2016. Since then, the publication has nearly tripled in page count while boasting a dizzying array of marquee interviews and high-impact visuals, reaffirming its position as the publication-of-record for social, cultural and philanthropic activity in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Founded in 1993 by Elsie Floriani, Gentry was sold in 2019 to the Golden State Company, owners of a range of luxury lifestyle brands and digital media assets in Southern California.

“We’re pleased to find the right owner for Gentry in Clint Reilly Communications,” said Charlie Koones, Managing Partner of the Golden State Company. “As illustrated by their work with the Nob Hill Gazette, Clint and his team are terrific publishers and are dedicated to bringing creativity and value to their audiences. We are excited to watch the continued evolution of this storied magazine under their leadership.”

“Elsie Floriani created something truly special when she launched Gentry 26 years ago, and the Golden State Company ushered the title into a new era with grace and purpose,” said Clint Reilly, Chairman and President of Clint Reilly Communications. “We’re excited to get to work writing the next chapter.”

In acquiring the Peninsula lifestyle publication, Reilly adds to his overarching company’s collection of premium SF Bay Area brands, which include the landmark Merchants Exchange Building, the Nob Hill Gazette, Julia Morgan Ballroom, Merchants Exchange Club and Credo Restaurant.
